Automation Increases Efficiency at EMS Waste Services.

Our most recent installation, was completed for our customer EMS Waste Services, based at their site in Hill Barton Business Park near Exeter.

The company offers waste management, skip hire, and scrap metal services covering the South West of England.

EMS already had a static waste separation solution at the site, which needed upgrading to help futureproof the business and allow for further growth.

They decided to commit to Kiverco after visiting several plants because they knew that the excellent design and quality of Kiverco plants would fit their business model and meet their needs for many years to come.

EMS’s main challenge was that they struggled to keep up with demand and had to run their plant for much longer each day and employ staff to work two shifts. Kiverco provided a semi-automated solution to help reduce labour and enable the company to deal with demand in one shift, by increasing its throughput.

Recovery rates have increased threefold, helping to increase revenue at the facility.

The newly improved solution was also specified to give EMS a higher sustained purity of construction and demolition waste and better metal recovery rates.

To help ensure optimal retrieval, a new weigh scale system, was installed in the plant upgrade. This system offers remote electronic access to plant statistics to help monitor daily incoming waste and maximise production.

The plant is now fully operational and is helping to reduce landfill rates in the area.

Jack Stuart, Director at EMS, stated: “We are very excited about our new state-of-the-art plant. Kiverco technology brings more automation to our facility, which improves performance and outputs. This technology will have a huge impact on waste recovery and profitability. A decision on investment on this scale is not taken lightly. We viewed several operating facilities and finally decided that Kiverco was the best fit for our business.”

Marcus McAlinden, Sales Manager, commented: “I am delighted that Troy and Jack have invested in us. They are a very reputable and growing family business based in the South West, and it will be a good partnership between EMS and Kiverco. We have built up a good relationship from the outset, and both Troy and Jack were very impressed with how smoothly things have gone, from the sale, design, and installation of the project. We delivered within the agreed timescale and have exceeded our customer’s expectations. The plant is performing exceptionally well, and EMS are now equipped to expand their business. Our team will continue to support EMS to ensure high levels of efficiency, and we look forward to a long working relationship.”
